Are they really live?
Face-swap tools can fake a face looking at a camera. They struggle with a full head turn, a hand crossing the face, or a word they could not have known. Ask for three of those, at random.
Your challenge for this call
Picked at random just now. Nobody could have recorded it in advance.
The message offers to do the same for them. Fair is friendly - and a real person rarely minds.
What a fake looks like
Edges that shimmer
Blur, flicker or a visible seam around the jaw, hairline or glasses - worst when they move.
A face that jumps over a hand
On a fake, the face can appear on top of fingers that should be in front of it.
Lips a beat behind
Words that do not quite match the mouth, or a voice that sounds processed or flat.
A loop
The same blink, nod or background movement repeating every few seconds.
The camera 'breaks'
Sudden connection trouble exactly when you ask for something specific is an answer in itself.
Shy people freeze on camera and connections do drop. One glitch is not a verdict - a pattern of refusals is.
Nothing here is recorded or sent. If something felt off, the video-call reflection helps you weigh it.
