6on7 vs Bumble

Bumble has the strongest safety engineering record in the category, and it spent a decade trying to fix the behaviour problems in dating by changing the rules of engagement.

What Bumble does better

Bumble was the first dating app in the United States to ship photo verification, in 2016, and it later open-sourced its nude-detection model so other platforms could use it. That is a real contribution rather than a marketing line.

Its women-message-first rule was a genuine attempt to solve a genuine problem: the volume of low-effort messages women receive. For a long time it was the only structural answer anybody had.

Where the products genuinely differ

Bumble retired that rule. It removed the requirement that women message first in 2024, and in August 2026 it dropped the rule entirely and extended the reply window from 24 to 72 hours, saying the burden had become a liability.

That is the honest lesson about deadlines: they do not reduce ghosting, they just move the guilt. We do not run a clock on a conversation. A wave lets you invite somebody to speak first without a timer counting down on either of you.

The other difference is what your photos do. Bumble's photos sit on your profile. Ours sit in a private collection you open deliberately, for one person, for a set time and a set number of views.

What each one costs

Bumble limits daily likes on the free tier and sells Premium and Premium+, which unlock unlimited swipes, the Beeline (who liked you), SuperSwipes, Spotlights and advanced filters.

Subscription renewals have been a persistent complaint from customers across the category, and Bumble has faced legal action over how auto-renewal was presented.

Here, who liked you is free, there is no like limit, and cancelling is two clicks from your billing page with no retention flow.

Safety

Bumble's record is strong and deserves to be stated plainly: photo verification first, ID verification added in 2025, a private-detector model that is open source, and serious moderation investment.

Where we differ is scope rather than quality. We run eleven graded checks across five levels, so a profile can show that somebody confirmed where they live and what they do - not just that a selfie matched a photo.

The straight answer

Bumble is a good product from a company that has taken safety seriously for a decade. Choose it if the brand's history matters to you. Choose us if the specific thing you want is for your photos not to sit on a public profile at all.
